vintage dining chairs by Radomir Hofman, Ton production

Magnificent set of 12 dining chairs by Radomir Hofman designed in the sixties and produced by TON. This is a really superb set of 12 and it's not often that I have a set of 12 the same chairs! These are not much seen around. They have everything I like about a piece of furniture: the history, the patina, the used wood, the perfect color, the charm in the details, the traces of life. The hole in the back is classic for Czech chairs but the circle around the feet adds is the little "touche" that makes them so chic. A TON sign underneath the seating is present.

This is the kind of model which catches my attention in a dining room. Lot's of dining rooms I've seen, unfortunately have no soul. I think that's so sad to walk in a house where there are only new things to find. I think there's no warmth in these places. I love modern houses but the more they're furnished with items which have a patina and scratches and even stains, the more it tells something about people who live there. These chairs are objects with a soul, they have had a life before and they will have a second life. That's what it's all about with vintage, nothing get's lost, no waste, just re-use and realizing that "new" is not always necessary. Especially today...
