PK22 by Poul Kjaerholm for Kold Christensen

A stunning PK22 classical and iconic lounge chair by Poul Kjaerholm for E. Kold Christensen. Kjaerholm was an extremely talented Danish designer (1929-1980). He has the reputation of being a furniture architect rather than a furniture designer. The models that he conceived 50 years ago have a contemporary look today. This chair is still reproduced today by Fritz Hansen (as from 1982 until now) but the last picture of this precise PK22 shows it was produced by E. Kold Christensen which is much more anterior to FH. The black leather has been so much patinated over the years that it has become lighter and it almost looks like it's brown. On the underside, where the leather is fastened to each side of the chair with usually plastic little buttons, here they're made of metal. Again a sign that this chair is around 50 years old. I have never seen it before, even old versions always have plastic buttons. If you are looking to invest in a fantastic piece of design, than take your chance!
